update:
lots has come and gone since early last week. i called dealership complaining about MR. FLORIDA, they said it was logged into regional and i would be contacted by someone and that has happened. spoke to this person(who is in my metro area), set up a time at the dealership when a FORD Engineer could look at it. that is today, it is in the shop now getting its diagnosis. but all is not what it is cracked up to be. first of all, dealership wanted to know why i was coming in?? -mad and the ENGINEER is not even going to look at it, he just listened to me and passed my concerns off to the tech?? -mad -mad we shall see how it goes. i will keep you all updated.

p.s. i am driving a sweet sonic blue focus w/ 240 miles on it:sweet

well, dealer just called.
1. rear main oil leak, wanted o.k. to fix, they dyed motor
2. no codes present, compression all fine
3. according to their lie-o-meter while plugged in on test drive at 55 mph w/the wind, getting 22.7 mpg and against the wind 17.9 mpg.
4. automatically did the current recall, i specifically left a message against doing so until other issues were fixed and i had a chance to drive it, that i would make an appt. to do so.

now for the contradictions: told by ser. mgr. that codes automatically delete from the system after so many key strokes. T/F can anyone weigh in on this matter? :dunno i told him that the degas bottle tested positive for an exhaust leak, he says no leaks were found that the compression was normal, and that they do not have the capability to perform such a sniff test of the degas bottle.-mad says that all is fine, no other tests will be preformed. i asked about the leaking injectors, glow plugs, and exhaust (soot) marks on block, he says all is fine no issues. correct me if i am wrong, but isn't visible soot on the block next to the factory headers a sign of trouble? when something is leaking, fluid is present and sand, dirt, road grim collect on said fluid leak, as in the case of certain injectors/glow plugs that that is an indication of a leak? i am very frusterated at this point and all of my research and inform. found on this site - they are contradicting. what to do, i think my next call is to DETROIT. looking for a little input and brotherly love..:thumbs:thanks
i will report back tomorrow after his supposed next phone call...

Get a second independant mechanic and a lawyer.

I hope and assume you have had all your service visits, or at least the later ones documented, either by their notes on the receipts or on the bills. About the degas bottle, I thought you said they tested that before (ford that is) and that they found combustion gasses present? If they say they can't or didn't do it, ask for your money back because you just paid for services not rendered.

Let me repeat. document document document...

Some codes do go away, I was reading in the 06 service manual that some of the ones on the message center go away after 80 ignition cycles. But, the ones in the PCM should stick around if they are serious ones.

As far as leaks go, yeah, if there is something leaking stuff will stick to it. Take the truck home, assuming all is clean, take a picture of it. Give it whatever amount of time it takes for it to show up, take another picture, repeat. Once you have pictoral proof that things aren't happy, go to Mr Potato Head service manager and ask him to explain the pictures. then schedule an appt for service again.

This is why I said get a lawyer and or the local paper involved. Bad press goes further than being nice anymore. It's not like you're not paying for the machine, and for it to be fixed correctly anyway.

as for the degas test, yes i had it done but not at a FORD dealer. at a local repair shop, (a friend of mine).

here is what and what i don't know to date: i was told that intermitant codes will delete totally from the system after 33 key cycles.:dunno
all compression tests, road tests, seem normal. they state vehicle gets 17.9 mpg against the wind and 22.7 mpg w/ the wind going 55 mph on a flat surface. what a crock of crap. i was told by ser. mgr. that the recall was performed, -mad even though i told him not to do it.-mad -mad he says that immediately once they hook up to the port that it automatically downloads any computer updates that need to be done. now i called other dealerships and asked if that is true and they all said NO! can anyone understand now why i am frusterated. he also told me that no other test will be performed and that the only thing wrong that they will be fixing is the rear main oil leak. told truck should be back to me FRIDAY. i asked him if they specifically looked at the EGR and tested the degas bottle. his response was he has no idea what i am talking about by testing the degas bottle, doubts they even have such a tester and no need to look at the EGR because all runs fine. here is my thoughts on the matter - that the recall addresses some of the issues that i am having and i would bet dollars to donuts that they assumed 'automatically' doing the recall would fix the issues. would anyone else agree?:thumbs he also stated that they put dye into the oil to check where it is leaking and would be fixing it today and also checking the cold start in the morning(this morning) - i said fine, call me in the morning to let me know what you find. i got no phone call today, so i called the FORD rep. i am dealing w/ to express my displeasure and to question some of the dealers actions/answers. his response was 'we have no reason to NOT fix ANY problem they find, but nothing else was found but the oil leak. told him they went ahead and did the recall even though i said no, he did not say much against that. he said he would call the engineer and find out some of my specific questions and would call me back - still waiting, its been 5 hours now. i called my salesman, who did not know my truck was in, i wanted a fax # to send in a picture of the degas bottle tester. i called him back at 7ish tonight to tell him no one called me back yet and would not be faxing at this time. he said he saw my truck out on the lot, he parked next to it all day. something smells rotten in denmark.:dunno i will be calling first thing in the morning to get some answers. check back w/ you all later, trying to keep the faith but losing it fast.:(

Man that's rough... sounds like what my dad went through with our 86 diesel... They screwed around until the warranty went out and said it's your baby now. I don't know honestly if another dealership would do better or not. I know the one that screwed my dad is still screwing people today, it's a different name, but the same old building and people inside.

You may seriously want to contact a lawyer and at least ask what your legal course of action can be, if you haven't already. If nothing else, it tells Ford you're willing to make their day a little more of a pain than the average customer. Food for thought anyway.

I most definately agree. Same thing happened to me for a while last year when there seemed to be quite a few 'new' flashes coming out. I had a surge/stahling issue that would not go away. they kept throwing flashes at it. Turned out to be an engine wiring harness (not the FICM but the WHOLE engine harness) Took about 7 visits total for them to get it right. (X was bought back from original owner by Ford for this issue, they flased it and put it back on the lot and I bought it) They only got it right because I made sure I took it in when a Detroit Ford engineer would be there. He is the one that diagnosed it as the engine harness. Has not had the problem in 30k miles.
