I'd suggest the Civil War Battle park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Also, if you're a country music fan, you'll need to check out the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Grand Ole Opry house in Nashville. Of course, you have to visit Graceland in Memphis. I've never been to it yet, but the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock would also be a good place to visit.

Asheville of course take a trip to see the biltmore estate, the house is amazing the craftsmanship makes me drool. The opulence of that lifestyle leaves me in awe but at the same time realizing that the Vanderbilt's actually knew what a hard day of work was.

The blueridge parkway is nice and has quite a few scenic overlooks, there are quite a few magnificient waterfalls in the area, and quite a few more if you head down toward hendersonville & flatrock. I have a map and a book on those if you want I'll be happy to loan it to you or send you some scans of them.

Little Switzerland is a nice tourist town to visit

Linville caverns is a nice quick cave visit perfect for a rainy day takes a couple hours
Linville falls is a very nice series of falls and an easy walk from the parking area off hwy 221.

Unto these hills in cherokee NC is a theatrical reenactment of the trail of tears and was pretty good last time I saw it, and there is a replica village with natives making things the way they once did. Tons of tourist shops and a series of decorated bears around town, if you want a lazy day tubing down the creek through town is always a favorite.

Maggie valley has a few amusement parks and a ghost town

And Cades Cove NC is a magnificent valley for simply relaxing and enjoying nature in the national park.
