First I'd like to thanks everyone who posted on my turbo issue last week. The info given by everyone was invaluble.
I'd like to get advice/recommendations before I install the new turbo.
I bought rebuilt turbo, pedastal(non-EBPV) and Racor CCV kit. I also have new exhaust manifolds to install(drill and tap for EGT gauge first). I just installed bellowed up pipes 3 weeks ago.
Should I change the oil? is it worth installing an oil pressure gauge and/or temp gauge in pedastal? Any advice so I don't have to go through this again. Thanks in advance. Sean
Here are a couple pics of the exhaust wheel. What does everyone thing? Lack of oil?? Or ??

Probably not oil failure, but a Hot Shut down. Let your engine idle for a few minutes before shutting it off, after you have pulled a heavy load. This will allow the turbo to cool down with oil circulating around critical parts.

DaveBen, I rarely pull a load, but my truck has a FULL service body on it which probablly doesn't help. Are the hot stop electrical kits worth it in my situation?

I can't say if they are good for your situation, but if I lived in Escondido, I would not have one. But that is me, and I don't know your local area. I think common sense is the best policy. Just let it idle for a few minutes before you shut it down. #0 seconds will do wonders in everyday driving.

ahh... 'scuze me... what's the deal with Escondido? :dunno

I am with you.

Like Dave said cool down time is important. Can't say if the cool down timer is worth it because I have not seen one installed or anything. But it is nothing when you get home just leave your truck running while you go into the house and then come back out and shut it down.

Can't really say what the degrees are because I don't have an oil temp guage on the turbo. Just let the truck idle for a minute or so.

Escondido (?) is just a tad North of San Diego, on I-15.

But yer right Dave.. It may as well be part of L.A., cuz " The Greater Los Angeles Area" seems to cover everything South.. to Mexican border, these dayz.

You never know you left L.A., and entered another Town or City... unless you saw a City Limits sign..:lmao

JMO but with today's Oils... a good "Spool Down" time is about all we need to do... Unless of course we've worked it hard. Coking, is just about a thing of the past.
