I took in my 350 for the 05E15 recall and the 05B32 Customer satisfactio Program. The 05B32 is a new sticker to replace the fill level on the coolant bottle. Basically the new cold full level is the old cold low level now. I guess this is an attempt to stop them from puking coolant. I also had them do my first oil and filter change since it was free.
When I was there I asked about buying a cord for my engine block heater, since I have the heater but no cord. Parts looked up the part for me and said you can only buy the complete assembly, that is the heater and cord together at 79.00. He said the cord is not sold seperately anymore.
My question is does anybody know where I can buy the cord only.

Thanks
Ken

Every block that comes out of Indianapolis or Huntsville has a heater element installed in it by International. Ford is just cheap and does not supply the cord. There are other dealerships that sell this cord separately. See if Chris at the Powerstroke Shop can help you. It should be a $30 part. If Ford can't or won't sell you a cord, International probably will. Don't feel bad about being lied to by your dealer's parts department. My dealer wouldn't sell me the cab light harness, because if I installed it, it would VOID MY ENTIRE TRUCK WARRANTY!

Blue Beast, Thanks I'll try the Powerstroke Shop and International.
My buddy was a Ford Tech until recently and he said the Parts guy probably couldn't figure out how to open the link for the cable only.
By the way what do you need the cab light harness for? is it for your 05?

My truck didn't come with cab lights. I want them. The dealer says they cannot be installed after the truck leaves the factory (wrong, the big dealer in Pensacola would do the job for me for $400) There are instructions on the web that show how to do it yourself with only one special tool you could borrow from an electrician friend if you didn't want to buy the whole tool set yourself. Total cost for the lights and the wiring is about $60.

I did mine about two years ago and I don't remember any "special tool" that I needed for the electrical. In fact I did not cut/splice anything. It is all factory plug ins. Plug in the lights and plug in the harness end under the passanger's kick panel. The hard part was drilling the first hole in my new truck. It got easier after the first one.

I think he might be referring to a 7/8" hole saw? Or possibly a 7/8" "slugbuster" or "knock out" to make the large opening for the electrical connection.

Exactamundo, Bryan! A slugbuster makes a much easier job of it. My neighbor is an electrician, his garden shed wasn't tied down and a severe thunderstorm took it, blew it across my fence and destroyed my 10 foot C band satellite dish. I can get another one. But the guy owes me big time. Maybe he can bring over his slugbuster and help me with the holes.
