I found this: DIY-Injectors

I replaced my injectors with new Stage 1 single shots that I got from Beans. There is a warranty in the new injectors, I don't think there would be one on injectors you rebuilt yourself. Additionally, the amount of time an injector job would be significantly increased if you had to "REMOVE - REBUILD - REPLACE" vs "REMOVE - REPLACE". Just changing injectors and glow plugs was pretty much an all day job working at a careful, "never done this before" pace. It would have been easilly a two day job if I'd been rebuilding injectors instead of swapping old for new.

I'm not real sure what needs to be replaced to convert, pretty sure plunger is what is different, has an extra cut in it or something to make the split shot injection event. If you are changin plungers, better change the barrels to, as they are in direct wear relationship to each other, think they only come as a set too. Never had a split shot injector apart, but give me a sec and I'll research it a bit. there are all kinds of check balls, plates, and dowels in the bottom of the injectors, they may be different too.

Johndeerebones, I believe that you either have to have the stock injector piston bores machined or purchase new ones to complete the installation. I think that the real big difference is in the nozzles. Any other information or link would be appreciated. Thanks...

there is a heliix cut in the plunger to allow a pilot shot before port closure, but the programmign on the truck will have to be modified or you will irratic throttle, there may be dead spots and it will not be near as smooth as it is now....

I bought my injectors from Jonathan Ryan of swamps diesel performance the web page is www.swamp-donkey.biz i have the smaller injecotrs that flow 175 cc with stock size nozzles, they are listed as 175/146 there are others that range up to almost 400 cc's the co-owner of the business is Dave Armstrong both really good guys to work with..

Thanks for the info! I am thinking on going with the 175cc injectors with the 173 nozzles. (175/173) I intend on upgrading the turbo (garrett gtp38r) and the intercooler at the same time.
