check the valley on top of the engine. if you have oil there, it isnt your rear main, rear main leaks are very rare with these engines. Usually turbo pedestal orings or something liek that up there

the reason i think it is the rear main or the oil pan gasket is because there is no oil in the valley and i replaced the engine about 12000 miles ago and it has been leaking very little until now and i was wondering if there is any way to tell them apart

rear main seal...brings back nightmares for me. had a '79 trans am with a rear main seal leak. had to remove all sorts of crap to access it, starting with the crossmember. hope i never have a rms leak again..although it's prob alot easier to fix on a truck.

As T and others have said.. The Rear Main is VERY seldom the Leak. Check along the bottom of the Heads, where they meet the block, there's a couple of plugs w/O rings that go into the heads. Check the Valve covers. Check Everything. These things have a habit of... Where-ever to oil/fuel comes from.. it'll run down the back of where-ever and drip off the bottom of the bell housing.. make'n you THINK the worst.

I am with Big Joe on this one. The main seals don't leak, for the most part. Keep looking.
