Ram air VS cold air intake

Ok Im a new guy to the PSD world, and have been reasearching intake mods and what not.My ? is I like the ram air intake mod on the WIKI site and the big filter no airbox mod.Which is a better setup, and would it be possible to combine the 2 for a optimal set up.

there all cold air intakes... if ya want ram air you either need to do the zoodad mod (free) or get a ram air hood ($700 ish) and ram air box ($300ish)
your choice a hood and kit that combine cost 1k before paint or the zoodad (do i need to tell you which one i did)

So the zoodad ram air, is it really functional though if you no longer use the airbox and have the large conical filter.

Some people have elaborated on the zoodad beyond simply cutting the opening and have plumbed in some hose or pvc to direct the air right up next to the air filter. I believe it will create better flow regardless of adding pipes or not.

The under hood temps from a open to a closed intake system are less the 20 degrees at most. If you want to save a little $$$ go for the tymar intake and a zoodad. I have the AFE stage 2, and its great... but $$$'y

Our NAPA must be wacked out, they want 50 bucks just for the filter.

I was under the impression that putting a functional hood scoop on a diesel truck for the ram air effect would be pointless being that the turbo diesel is already a forced induction system. I have seen a couple of SuperDuty Powerstrokes with a functional hood scoop and wondered why, since I thought that it really didn't make much of a difference.

That is how much I paid for mine. Wanted to get it now for mod party next weekend. CHPMustang posted a site that sells them for $19.54 plus shipping. They show to be on backorder right now.

Does somebody know what type of engine this filter is for? Crumm? May make it easier to find it at other stores.

I've been thinkin' along this line... Do the zoodad with a duct to the filter plus leave my stock air-duct in place after I remove the box.
Wadya think?
