I was under the impression that putting a functional hood scoop on a diesel truck for the ram air effect would be pointless being that the turbo diesel is already a forced induction system. I have seen a couple of SuperDuty Powerstrokes with a functional hood scoop and wondered why, since I thought that it really didn't make much of a difference.:dunno
Yes and no... It can't hurt, right? And if the turbo doesn't have to work so hard to "pull" air into the system, it frees up more power for the turbo to compress air into the engine.

It probably won't amount to much, you probably can't even tell the difference, but in my big towing machine, I like to make sure it has all the cool intake air it needs to stay cool when I am running the crap out of it on our local mountain passes. It is not so much a power thing as it is a "stay cool" thing....

I would not put a hood scoop on mine, personally, but doing so is certainly not "pointless".

Agree with the "be cool" logic of it...

I think it was DalPilot that measured the difference before and after and it was like 60 degrees cooler WITH the zoodad...

maybe not a big diff in power, but definetly cooler !
