Thats it. Just curious if drilling the orifice leads to premature pump failure or an increase in blown hoses etc etc........... where is the orifice?

i dont know what side effects it will have but the orifice is in the steering box.remove the high pressure line and drill out the hole where the line goes.before doing this try replaceing the powersteering pump.ive never had an issue with the steering in any of fords except for the infamous ford whine.also try flushing and filling the system with fresh ATF not power steering fluid.

Cool, in some of my "reading" I had read about this mod and how it made the heavy front ended PSD's turn like the old Caddy's used to, one fingered steering from lock to lock in park.

Is ATF a better fluid?

i can turn the wheels on my trucks with one finger lock to lock.ATF is what ford calls for in thier power steering system from the factory."power steering fluid"is the cause of the whine in the ford pumps.the whine is caused by aeration of the oil.power steering fluid doesnt have the anti aeration additives that ATF has.just use a regular mercon/dexronIII ATF

So this is the mod that many plumb their (useless!) stock tranny cooler into once they've upgraded to a LPD cooler?

My steering pump doesnt whine and I too can turn it lock to lock, the way I understood some others experiences is that it made the steering like that of a luxury car. Effortless so to speak. Its not something I have to do and I dont want to replace my pump. But you know how it is once you havent modded on your truck for a month or so, its time to go see what I can break.:deal
