I want to install my Vector 1200 power inverter permenently in my truck. Ideally I want to locate it behind the rear seat. I am concerned with what guage (0?) considering the distance, the inline fuse to install and where to install the fuse, or anything else I am not thinking of. I am assuming I will connect it to the driver side battery. Also where the best place to run the ground wire? When it comes to electricity I am an idiot. It once took me three weeks to hook up a remote stater to my wife's Yukon, it works, but I got lucky. The manual sucks and it seems like they do just about everything to talk you out of a distance longer then 3 feet. The guy who came around my neiborhood selling meat has his behind the seat using his for the deep freeze in the back of the truck. Only seen him once the other guys Ive seen do not have one. Any help out there?

you want a fuse (or circuit breaker) as close to the
power source (aka battery) as possible.

boadie..re: the fuse...'zactly (you wouldnt want the fuse to blow near
the inverter & then still have a live wire from the battery)...

At peak current you will be drawing over 100A so 4 gauge would work, 2 gauge is better. Definately put the fuse within a few inches of the battery. Keep in mind that if that #2 wire shorts to ground without a fuse, very bad things can happen.

grounding

Your best bet for grounding it to run the cable right to the negative post of the battery, especially considering the potential amp draw.

Reno, Well #4 or #2 sounds better then 0/1 but I never would have thought that it would need to be that big. To go from the battery to behind the seat in the back seat of a crew cab should I go with a 0/1, considering that it is capable of pushing a 2400 watt surge. The stupid inverter will not even hold 0/1, do I have to reduce down with some type of connector?

Fordguy, I have the positive and negative on the inverter and then I also have a little ground post are you saying take that to neg. on the battery or just to the chassis.

Thanxs guys-- Alot more info then the stupid manufacturer will fricken give me.
