Hi All,

I have an ’05 6.0 F350 with approx. 10k mi. and need a bit of help. I plan on adding a Banks Technicooler, Power elbow and Monster Exhaust with an SCT Xcal II custom tune.

I would like to know how prominent the loss of head gaskets are among 6.0’s and if I should worry with installing head studs and fresh gaskets. I don’t know that they are worth it at this power level, or if they are more for piece of mind.

In any event, I am looking for a competent dealer or independent shop in the Southeast. I would like to have head studs installed in my 6.0 and want it done right. I also am looking to have some fittings in the oil pump replaced to prevent future failure. Ideally, I would like to have someone that is both proficient in the 6.0 and is used to removing the body to do the head studs.

I would prefer to find a highly competent/laid back dealership that is mod friendly and could perform the stud install, as well as total service.

Any Ford dealerships in AL/MS/GA/So. TN or the panhandle of Florida, will be considered. Please inform me accordingly. My local dealers are used to doing quick fixes on company trucks in my area.

Also, for all of you that have installed studs/gaskets, please let me know what you used and what combo seems to be working the best.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Save your money and buy hi flow diesel injectors. The stock injectors can only flow so much fuel until you lean out your engine and pop the head gaskets. A properly tuned and properly fueled engine will not pop head gaskets. You might break connecting rods but not head gaskets.

Hi flow fuel injectors are about $1800 each!

Stock 6Ohs have been known to lift heads under heavy loads since they only have 2 rows of head bolts.

Stock 6oh injectors are capable of quite alot and how do you lean out a diesel? Maybe under certain rare conditions. Diesels pop headgaskets from excessive boost or bad programing causing excessive cylinder pressures at the wrong times. I believe DP Tuner have some pretty good 6oh tunes that are HG friendly.

Who sells 6.0 injectors for $1800.:dunno

Not real worried about it leaning out. I know I don't need bigger injectors with my setup.

Also, the basic flaw, as stated by a previous poster, is that the 6.0 doesn't have enough head bolts to begin with.

Any more shop suggestions?

Thanks.

Try this:
Johnson Motorsports
3247 Highway 63 South
Lucedale, MS 39452
Phone: 601.766.9424

They deal primarily in gas engines but I am sure Chris can direct you to a good diesel shop.

You are aware that chipping the computer let alone taking apart your 6.0 will void the warranty?
