I lurk on this site a lot...there is a lot to learn and I find it here.

My F 250 is a '99 model ordered in late June of '99. It has been good to me and I only have 174000 on the engine/body/trans.

But I do have a problem with clarity of the lens on my headlights. Anyone else have this problem? And what can I do about it?

Thanks,

JLD

upgrade to 2002-2005 headlights. they have clear lenses. if you look about you can find them on ebay and the used at the junkyard reasonably.

you will also want to upgrade the headlight harness for about $50. too small a wire in the FMCO harness leads to voltage drop and dim bulbs. i got my harness from GOS Racing.

Dont forget that with the '05 you have to cut out the headerpanel or replace it with the one from the '05 and the grille and bumper. I just replaced my head lights a few weeks ago. I cut my header and went with the '05s.

If I understand your issue correctly, it sounds like your jheadlight lenses are oxidized. If so, a cheaper would be to buy a tub of polishing compund and simply polish the oxidation out. I did this recently on my wifes '03 Altima, and it turned out great!

Pardon if I misunderstood your problem....

your lenses were cloudy from day 1 off the assembly line. they were designed and built bY ford that way. they are not oxidized, they are cloudy on purpose.

Go to a major parts store (autozone, o'Rileys, NAPA, Etc.) they sell a cheap kit to clean/polish the front plastic lens on vehicles.
