I was reading on one of the other diesel sites, a big rig owner stated he had an "Oil Spinner" on his rig. Is this simply an additional oil filter?

Thanks

I heard about something like this from one of my parts suppliers, but I cannot tell you for sure. I think it is in the form of another filter housing and as it spins it flings the oil and uses a thin piece of paper to collect the crud.

Thanks for the information. After reading the website, it is a device that uses centrifical force to capture things that you don't need in your oil. Sounds pretty good for extra measures for the big rig folks I guess who want to go longer between oil changes. I think if I were using this device I would ensure I get my oil samples tested.

does it cause aeration (or bubbles) in the oil ?
that would NOT be a good thing !

I agree with you on that one. Did you say you were running the 15w40 Rotella? I started using Rotella 15w40 a few oil changes ago. So far so good. I also know many PSD owners use Delo and Delvac. Of course I always use the MC FL1995.

sorry was drinkin a shiner(s) @ the airport, couldnt see
the web site but NOW i see "turbine" is spinning at more than
6000rpm...makes me wonder if the chemicals in the oil could
all so but "slung" out too.

blu1ton...yup been using 15/40 (dino) Rotella since the 2nd
oil change....i change it "about" every 5k and its been showing
good test results.

That thing wouldn't work on our trucks.
You must have air hooked to it to make it work.

I thought you were happy with the Rotella 15w40. Me too so far.I guess the main thing is to keep the oil/oil filter changed every 5000 miles. With my truck I do the 6 month or 5000 which ever comes first, usually the 6 month period comes before the 5000 mile mark. I would say on average I have around 4000 miles in a 6 month period. Am I doing this right with the 6 month thing or just wait to get the 5000 mile mark each time?

Thanks
