can anyone tell me what the long tube is on the left side under the exhaust manifold and why it would be leaking oil from the ends

Sure sounds like CCV oil dripping which is in your intake tubes(Designed that way by Ford/International)

This Modification article done by Tbar will help eliminate the oil from coating the interior and exterior of the intake tubing and also make your intercooler more efficent:sweet

If the "tube" in question is cast iron and is just below the driver's side exhaust manifold, it's the engine oil cooler. There are o-rings where it mates to the block and they sometimes leak. I think some coolers have even cracked.

Is there any oil in your coolant?

If you're looking at a pipe looking thingy next to the oil filter, then that will be the oil cooler. I believe there are some o-rings in there that are replaceable.
