IF you have a California Truck, you can't unplug the EGR or it will throw a code. If you buy a second and plug it in there, it will also throw a code. In Ca you need to keep it pluged in unfortunately.

If I unplug my egr, will it turn on the check engine light? I've read about putting another one on as a "dummy" egr to fool the computer, so I don't know what to try. Not trying to hijack thread, just trying to understand. Thanks...
the "dummy" egr wont work, itll still throw a code and items
UPSTREAM and DOWNSTREAM could malfuction as well...
the egr's position commands other device operation (vari vane
turbo is one)...if the egr is commanded into a particular position
and the upstream or downstream devices dont see a "change" as
a result of the expected egr position they could themselves
malfuntion or function in such a way that performance and power
are negatively effected.
