Yes, I think there is quite a difference between pre and post turbo, just not sure how much it would be, We need to ask one of the guys that has both pre and post turbo pyro's...

+1 w/ RoyBoy...take it from someone whos run the EGT probe in
both pre & post...theres a LOT of difference.

PRE TURBO is the ony REAL way to read egt's and the most accurate
for comparison...

Both of our trucks have the probe pre turbo. I just don't understand how a couple of weeks ago I could be cruising at 75 and my EGT's were under 600.

This morning on my way to work I kept a close eye on them and they would range from 900 to 675. Again that's not getting after it real hard and I have my edge set on level 3.

idling i see 400 or less if i let it cool (again depending on the outside
air temp)...

a rule of thumb that seems fairly accurate...is 100* for every 10mph
on the speedo...(and expect higher temps when the outside AIR temp
is up in the summer)

so that should have READ 80 mph=800*

btw i am STOCK (well ok mbrp turbo back/cat delete) i can see temps
from high 600 high 700s LIGHT throttle/boost cruising
and high 900s boarding on 1000 when i romp on it getting on the interstate

Thanks for the replys. I called the people that installed the exhaust and my edge and they said more then likely the EGT probe went bad. They told me to bring it in tomorrow and they will replace it. Apparently they have had some trouble with a few of them. Hopefully this will fix it.

ME Too!

My 06 F-250 with an Edge Juice with Attitude. Just a couple of days ago I noticed my EGT are now up to 800-900. Two weeks ago I could stomp on it in level 5 up-hill and not see 850. Now I'm getting 100% backdown passing on level hi-way. What ever it turns out to be, your EGT probe or air filter, please post. I was thinking maybe a premature failing cat could cause it also. I really need to gut that or cut that out anyway. My EGT probe is in the manifold.

Okay, so how much of a difference do you see? Also, what gauge are you running? I'd love to get a dual needle EGT gauge, but all of the ones I have seen just plain suck. I really don't want to run two separate gauges. I'd like one something like the dual needle air pressure gauge.

So if pre turbo is running at 500, what's it look like after the turbo?

im running autometers z-series...and honestly you cant
even compare the pre vs post...the PRE turbo reacts (up & down)
ALOT faster than post turbo.

if you forced me to say...id have to say it depends on where you are
on the pedal but as i VAGUELY recall at idle there was at LEAST
200-250 degrees difference (post side is colder)

Another thing that contributes to the EGT is wind speed, and comparison to the direction you are heading. By this I mean if you are traveling in a 30MPH head wind, then you are pushing through more force. That is just something to notice. Trust me there is a difference and it is noticeable.
