thinking of buying a new ford truck, either a 07 ranger or step it up a bit to a full size truck like the super duty? i need something that will tow my 69mach1 from time to time so i need a good strong truck, i think the ranger can handle it but not sure. 5000lbs towing on the auto 4x4 ranger. thanks for any help.

The Ranger might get the load moving, but I sure as H*** wouldn't want to be in front of you in a panic stop. Step up to a Superduty. With the 6.0 you won't even know the car and trailer is behind you. Keith

super

just got back from a local ford dealer which had a ton of super dutys and just about everything else in between, the xl f-250 isnt to bad and im sure i can get a good deal on them they had both 2 wheel drive and 4x4s, then i saw a ford E-250 cargo van that can tow pretty much over 6500 lbs, v-8, since im a contractor and my astro van is pretty much not going to tow my car i was thinking i can kill to birds with one stone? new van for work and tow my stang? at the same time. man those super dutys sure are nice though.:sweet

Get a diesel if you can at all swing it. Your regular driving mileage will be better than a gasser. Your towing mileage will be A TON better than a gasser. And your performance with a trailer behind will be no comparison to the better with a diesel.

My son got a new truck in '03. He had a choice between a new 03 gas V-8 and a leftover new 02 with a diesel for about the same $$. He ended up with the 03 gasser and has been regretting it ever since for all the reasons I've previously mentioned and more. (But mostly because Dad has repeatedly wooped his ass at every turn in a cloud of black soot!!!) :thumbs :thumbs

I belive you can get the diesel in the E250, but who cares dont get a weak crappy van. Get the E350 with 6.0 diesel. At work we have 4 E350's that tow 5,000 lbs+ every day and have no problems. The cost between the E250 and the E350 is nothing compared to the extras you get with the E350. I trust you will make a good decision.
