For the last few days, a siding crew has been banging on the side of the house. They are in the process of replacing the siding courtesy of State Farm Insurance.
Some of you may recall the big tree that fell on the back of the house not quite a year ago:

Not only was the roof damaged, but the siding got scraped up some. Because of the siding damage, insurance had to replace it on that back facing wall. Since the existing stuff is 16 years old and sun faded, new siding would not match. So State Farm is redoing the entire house. I have to say, State Farm has taken very good care of us.
I got the roof fixed earlier this summer. Now that I'm underemployed for at least the near-term, I have the time to get the siding taken care of.

I'm shelling out to replace the 2 bedroom windows on that same back wall too, logic said it was the right time to do it. Since the friggin' idiot who owns the property behind us, clear-cut the trees for beer money, I am now exposed to more wind. The wind break now being gone is likely what brought the big pine tree down on the house to begin with. But ever since then, on a windy day, I could hear the wind whistling through the bedroom window.
Everything should be done by end of next week.
