There you go bashing Needles. I got family there and it is a great place to be from.

I used to get mad at my boss when I was driving a truck for sending out the night of a holiday, so I would get even by fueling up in Needles. You have to understand that I would go for weeks without a raod trip and then EVERY holiday, I would get sent out of town. He even sent me to San Francisco on Christmas eve for a 26th delivery. (I got around that and he never even knew, just dont look at my log book...)

Parker is also a good town to fuel up in, but they do not get a lot of tourist traffic. Drop down 95 to Vidal Junction and then cut across to Parker. Then you go staright from there to Quartzsite and have a little bit better roads.

BTW Ehrenberg is across from Blythe, not Needles.

Yes. I was going to say the same thing. Just be READY for a purdy sharp right turn (on the Caly side) before you cross the Colorado river bridge at Parker.

AZ-95 is more Scenic to Parker.. CA-95 is better road, to Vidal Junction, then to Parker.

Hey Scooter;

When I was a kid, we went through Needles at night and in those days they did not have a/c. It was sooooooo hot, I rolled down a window and stuck my head out,, BAD idea..... It was like getting hit by a furnace of hot air. I rolled the window back up and toughed it out. It had to over 100 degrees and this was late at night. Those days we had canvas water bags that hung on the front bumper. You could have made hot coffee with that bag in Needles.

Big Joe, Scooter;

Yep, that is the way I had planned to go. It has been over 35 years since I have been on those roads. I don't remember the roads being to bad then.
