In a van down by the river...
Do you have a crock pot? Cooking in one of those is about as easy as pie since you just have to add the ingredients, turn it on, and then wait a few hours. If you go out and get one, get a big one since IMO it's easier to make a lot at once and then freeze the excess for later. I love making beef stew in the winter and here's the recipe (more or less--I don't make it the same way every time):

Take about 2-3 pounds of beef (which cut is unimportant) and cut it into chunks ~1"- 1 1/2" across. Coat them with flour (roll the chunks around in a pie pan with flour in it) and then put them in a frying pan that has just a little bit of hot oil in it (about 2 tbsp or so). Once they're browned, pull them out of the pan and put them into the crockpot. Take a bunch of carrots, onions, potatoes, and celery, peel as necessary, chop them into chunks about the same size as the beef, then add them to the crockpot as well--the ceramic insert of the crockpot should be just about full before you cook, so if it's low, add more veggies/meat. Season as you want to, turn the crockpot on to "Low" for ~8-12 hours and voila--you're done. I usually add ~1/2 can of beer (pouring the rest of the beer into me), a LOT of garlic, salt/pepper, just a wee bit of Tabasco, a bay leaf, and maybe some oregano.

Reheating food whether on the exhaust manifold, oven, broiler, microwave, pan, skillet or toaster oven is not cooking.

I've reheated food on my exhaust manifold while on a road trip...but not while driving. :roflmao

not to steer this off topic too far, but chef boyardee cans get heated perfectly after a 30 minute drive if you put them in the valley on the engine.

my personal favorite side dish (goes great with potatoes and meat, or serves as the main course for the vegetarian wife...) is green beans with garlic and butter.
- cut up the beans however you want, or dont.
- boil them in water until they are as crunchy/mushy as you like them (4-5 minutes for me)
-while they boil, in a seperate pan melt butter over low heat and throw in minced garlic
- drain out the water and mix in the butter and garlic.
also i have done this with garlic powder sprinkled over after you mix the butter and beans, if you dont have minced or dont like it. other people mix in onions, or use fresh garlic. really you can throw in watever you want.

I like the crock-pot idea as well...
chicken with some sage & thymne
sausage & kraut
roast beef with potatoes, carrots & onions
throw it together when you leave in the morning, turn the crockpot on low, eat it when you get home at night...

got an oven? roast a turkey (throw it in, turn it on, go mow the grass for a few hours), eat on that for a few days...

smoked sausage & mashed potatoes

brown some ground beef in a pan, add Carroll Shelby's Chili Fixin's (add beans, I'll kill ya)...

take the Shelby's chili, roll it in flour tortilla's, shred some cheddar cheese over the top, throw it in a 350* oven for 20 minutes, cover with sour cream, crack a beer and pig out...

TATER TOTS!

breakfast is good any time..
can you make an omelette?
scramble some eggs, throw it in a saucepan... when it starts to cook through, add cheese, some corned beef, flip it in half, cover with more cheese.. throw it on a plate (chicks dig this)
