You will get lots of input on this so I'll start things off with my opinion. I did a lot of shopping with an eye toward longevity and efficiency (no smokey burn-outs for me) and went with the Banks Six Gun Tuner with Power PDA. The install was easy (hardest part-removing the manifold to drill and tap for the thermo-couple) and the instructions were great. I was sent .pdf manuals before I even made the purchase.

Having since added TomTom to the PDA for navigation I now have gauges and maps in one small package.

Banks is one of the safest, most expensive, and lowest HP set ups out... If you have lots of cash around, go for the banks power pack.

If not, a SCT tuner with any number of the tunes out there, Tadd at ATS, Jody at DP, are just two I like. A set of gauges, pyro, tranny, boost minimum. A 4" turbo back or 4" cat back... And your there, Intake on a 6.0 is optional purchise, the stock system flows great, you can add a AFE filter, or leave it alone.

Banks...3500-4000 powerpack...

What I just listed... at max, everything... 2200... Thats a nice dual system, SCT tuner, Autometer Cobalts, and AFE intake. You will have more horsepower then the Banks, better tranny shifting, and more fun...

i have a banks big hoss bundle in my '04 f350. it didn't cost 3500 to 4000. it was 3000.00. it may "safe", but man it does do a good job. i also think that it has good longivity to it. but it changes so many things to get overall peak performance. it changes the intercooler, the exhaust, the boost tubes, and it comes with gauges, and the 6-gun and speed loader. when i first drove my truck after the complete install, i came back home with a big smile on my face. of course, like everybody else, this is just my opinion. doesn't really matter to me what you do to your truck, just make sure that it makes you happy and not everyone else.:thumbs

not real sure that i agree with the statements above. of course, i have never had any other systems on my truck, so i can only speak of the banks system. it has plenty of power, it shifts great, and it is a whole lot of fun. i find it hard to keep my foot out of it everytime i drive my truck.

i do think most everyone agrees that a good place to start is with some gauges to especially measure your EGT's and boost levels. a good air intake system (lots to choose from) and then go from there.

I'd say go with a custom tune on the SCT. You can get it set up to your driving style. Economy, Towing, Hauling A**, just about anything. You can also choose to "delete" your EGR valve (lower egts and no more stuck egr valves) if you so choose.

Save your money, dont get an intake unless you want to, the stock system flows great, exhaust is what you need to work on...

Rather then fix the tranny programs like SCT tuners do, Banks defuels the truck at every shift to protect the tranny... They do not ajust the factory tuning on the tranny.

SCT will boost the line pressures, change the shift points, raise the rev limiter... So many differant options. Live data logging, streaming data. You can have new tunes Emailed to you and load them on the tuner.

I have 8 differant SCT 6.0 tunes on my hard drive...:thumbs

I think the first thing we need to find out is, what do you want to do with this truck? Safe towing with defueling, must have adjustability on the fly, easy to remove before a visit to the dealer, or do you want to remove pavement and scare the little lady in the passenger seat? I totally agree with Bama on the fact that you should monitor your engine first before you add much power.

I would not say Banks makes the most power, but it is good power and yes their systems are very safe. If you called me and asked for the most power I would get you a Custom SCT. As for safe systems that will defuel if you reach high gauge readings, then there are a bunch of very good systems. You can put together a package consisting of different brands and spend less than Banks for sure, but I would never say Banks is a bad choice.
