need quick answer for tomorrow morning.

my trucks been acting up on cold mornings,when it gets below 50 it takes 3 cranks till it starts,then blows gobbs of white smoke when it does start,ive searched on the forums,and i want to jump the gpr with the battery tomorrow morning to see if it starts right up.but i need to know exactly how to do it so i dont blow anything up.is it just like jumping a car battery,which side would positive go on.help is appreciated.

positive battery to glow plug side of the relay

about 30 seconds should do it...

Check with a 12v test light there should be power on one of the large terminals on the GPR and you can just jump it with a small wire over to the other side

no, just use your jumper cable like a big jumper wire...
just jump it and power the glow plugs...
let it cook for about 30seconds,
I'd disconnect it and lay the cable aside so it doesn't get all entangled in the belt..
try to make go

With just the positive cable to the GPR. The GPR should be grounded already so don't put a negative cable on it. There is constant power to one of large top posts on the GPR at all times and when you turn on your key it sends a signal to the GPR wich makes the power jump threw to the other large post and then to your glow plugs.
