Hi guys, my grand dad has a 97 F350 powerstroke with an auto trans and is completely stock. The problem is that it blows the glow plug fuse when you turn the key on. My question is what could cause this and what is the spec for glow plugs. As always all help is appreciated.

Is it the 30 amp maxi-fuse in the underhood fusebox (#22)? If so, the fuel heater element inside the fuel bowl has probably shorted (common problem). You can disconnect the big funny looking spade connector on the driver's side of the fuel bowl about halfway down, but I prefer to drain the fuel bowl (yellow lever on top passenger side front of bowl), remove the cap and filter, and disconnect the element lead from inside. Make sure the drain lever is closed (been there), replace the cap and filter. After doig this, replace the fuse and see if it starts. Cheers!
