ok just checking.crack the 2 return lines on the fuel pressure regulator loose and crank to see if you have fuel there.if not crank it over till you do and tighten them up.if you have fuel to the heads its an electrical problem or high pressure oil problem.you had the fuel filter housing out while replaceing the fuel pump,right?make ure the wireing harness on it is plugged in.and make sure you plugged in the IPR on the high pressure oil pump.make sure the wires to the IPR arent frayed and touching as the diesel fuel from filter changes eats away the wires insulation.

Second that, thats were I was going, if you have no smoke check those wires, if they are touching, you will have no hpop pressure. It has to have something like 10 volts while cranking or the pcm wont fire the injectors, so if its cranking slow fix that first. If the truck has an open element air filter, disable the glow plug relay and lay a shop towel soaked with gasoline over the filter then crank. This makes cranking alot easier on the starter. Not catastropic to engine bottom ends like ether is. I farted around thinking my ipr was bad for 2 days before I bit the bulet and just bought one after talking to bean before he was his own man. fired right up afterwards. If you just need the connector IH has em for like 18 bucks with an 18 inch pigtail to splice. I gave the part number to joat to put on his part number web page, but I don't know if its still up or if someone has a copy.

No I did not remove the fuel filter canister to replace the fuel pump. Just in case where in reference to the fuel canister are the electrical lines I should check? Are the two lines I need to crack to check for fuel the ones on the drivers side of the fuel canister? Where is the Ipr?'

the wires run right along side of the filter,really cant miss them.sorry i dont have a pciture of it and everything on top of my moltor is gone so i cant even take a picture of mine for you.
this isnt a recomended procedure but i do it anyways and havent caused any adverse effects.turb your ignition on and wait a good 3 minutes to 5 minutes to be sure the glow plugs have shut down and cooled.give it a small shot of starting fluid,does it run?or does it run and quit.how much life left in your batteries?may need to charge them.it wont start on half dead batteries either.do you have a wait to start light and all that workin when you turn the key on?

-wait to start light is on when I turn the key forward
-cracked the 2 lines coming from canister that go to the front part of each head and they both have fuel
-wiring for Ipr and fuel bowl are good now, top wire on the fuel bowl was stripped a little and touching the fittings. I pulled out that wiring harness and all is good know and its reconnected.
-Batteries are charged and showing 12.3 volts
-still no start and no smoke from the tail pipe
Could it be the glow plugs, should I recheck them my self? What the correct way to do this?

it should fire without the glow plugs,not that cold out yet.but turn the key on and wait a good 4 minutes,hit it with starting fluid and see if it runs.if it stays running then id say you need glowplugs.
