Napa fuel filter problem?

36 MM, it also fits the oil filter, wifes BMW oil filter, etc.
Seems to be becomming the standard for cartrage type filters.

I wonder why Ford didn't use 36MM for the small fuel filter? Then all the filters would use the same tool .

All you need for the small filter is a 1/2 extension or a 1/2 ratchet. No socket required.

For around $25 I bought a socket kit for fuel filters from a tool guy that comes to our shop. It has 3 sockets with 3/8th drive that fits most american and foreign models. Came in its own plastic box so I can stash it in my truck.

Notice the slot in the opening of the Motorcraft filter in this picture:

The slot in the MC filter is an "air bleed" that allows the air in the filter to escape threw the system and allows the entire filter to be used rather than just the lower half being used. This makes for longer filter life and better filtration. Another reason to use OE.

Napa also has a new filter that has a cap included with it. It is still not built to the same standards as the OE filters. I have seen them tested and they also do not compare to the OE filters.
