Yesterday, we traded my 2002 F-250 PowerStroke on a 2007 Explorer. I hated to give up the big diesel, but it was too much truck since we haven't pulled our fifth wheel in about 3-4 years. The fifth wheel is now for sale so I can free up space in my driveway. In addition with aging parents, it was hard for our mothers to get in and out of it. I'm now driving the 2008 F-150 and my wife is driving the Explorer. She sure does like it and is excited about being able to park it much easier than either pickup. Hopefully in the future, when (and if) Ford builds a diesel F-150, I can get back in "the diesel business". Even though I'm now "diesel-less", I'll still be posting and still using the name "02SilverStroke". I plan on posting my fifth wheel on the "Community Marketplace" if anyone would like to buy a decent fifth wheel.

Sounds to me like you a being practical which is very rare nowadays. It is amazing how many people own a big one ton diesel yet have nothing to haul or tow. Don't be a stranger and enjoy the new ride :sweet

Thanks guys. Crumm you are correct. We've been thinking about doing this for awhile. Both our vehicles now have a 6 year, 100,000 mile warranty from Ford, so we shouldn't have to worry about major repair bills for awhile.

Ckamp52, I agree. My intentions were good when I bought it new in 2002. We had the fiver with my 1993 F-150 4.9 L 6 cyl. Of course, it only had a 6000 pound towing capacity and the previous 1996 fiver was 6000 pounds. We were living in the fiver for awhile in '99 so we traded it on the one we have now. When I pulled it with the 150, it was almost 1000 pounds overloaded, so we got the diesel. We did pull the trailer to San Antonio in 2002 and New Orleans in 2003, but that was the longest trips that we took with it. The diesel pulled it with plenty of power to spare. Now, the diesels are priced so high that many people cannot afford them. The salesman that I've dealt with for 23 years drove PowerStroke diesel pickups for his demonstrators most of the time, but drives a red 2009 F-150 Platinum. I think he stopped driving the diesels last year when the fuel prices got so high.
I'd like to be able to get another diesel later either in a 150 (if they ever make one) or another 250 with the new 6.7 engine (after it's "bug free").

Wayne, you know you have a home here no matter what you drive.

Hey, you're still a Ford owner. Hope the wife enjoys the new ride.
