I heard them talk about $5.00 + /gallon gasoline & diesel fuel the day after Obama vetoed Keystone.
The same day the Canadian Prime Minister was on the news saying, "Oh yeah? Well, we'll just build the pipeline over the Rockies, terminate at Vancouver and sell it to the Chinese. You can't stop us from exporting our oil."
Now, I'm not saying the pipeline would have been a guarantee against it, but I'm sure it would have helped take the sting off..
I don't know that the pipeline veto is/will have an immediate effect on gas prices but.....

If you had a choice of buying additional oil from Venezuela, the Middle East or Canada.....which would you choose???
Regarding the administrations argument that this was rushed and they needed more time to study the project......it has been studied for exactly 3yrs.....the same amount of time it took for the original Keystone pipeline.
Regarding the original location of the pipeline Trans Canada came to an agreement with Nebraska to reroute around the Sand Hills Region.
Regarding the additional "Green House Gasses" created by harvesting the oil sands........its still going to happen.....the oil is going to be harvested.
In fact additional "green house gasses" will be created shipping(boiler oil) it to China where the fuel will be consumed by their dirty factories and dirty cars.
Regarding Jobs......very very few Americans will be employed if the pipeline goes to Canada's west coast. If you have ever worked in Canada you will know they are protective of their jobs and take a dim view to US citizens working there.
