Saw on the news today that since Obama "vetoed" that pipeline, the Canadians are now talking to to the Chineese about sending that oil to them.

I heard that on the news also today. We have a big trip planed for June
and at $5 a gal for Diesel we may have to drive the car and stay in a motel.
I hate staying in motels, I like having my own bed with me.

well what is interesting is we EXPORT more refined petroleum products than we import
iran shouldn't even be in play, as we don't use their oil to an extent that matters
go to the DOE.gov website and you shall see we get most of our raw crude from more secure locales like canada.
speculators are the the only reason prices fluctuate so readily
if congress would get off their rears and pass legislation on the speculators to have even 50% of the money up front of a buy, our prices would be under control
knowledge is power
write your elected official, hit em with the facts and ask hard questions

Around here diesel is any where from $3.62 to $3.99 a gal.

OUCH!!! if $5 /gal. for fuel arrives, my rig will stay right where it is - parked besides the house. I will carpool with the wife.

The same day the Canadian Prime Minister was on the news saying, "Oh yeah? Well, we'll just build the pipeline over the Rockies, terminate at Vancouver and sell it to the Chinese. You can't stop us from exporting our oil."
Now, I'm not saying the pipeline would have been a guarantee against it, but I'm sure it would have helped take the sting off..
