wellllll
the factory crimped 3 inch tubing to 3.5 just isnt up to flowing as well as teh 4 dp and tubing
magnaflow and mbrp and the others use smooth bends and no crimping.
your factory dp has a big cheesy crimp about half way down to maintain the ever important body clearance,

but if you $$$ limited then a muffler delete will help a good deal but not near the realized gains of a 4" system
sorry talking upgrades and HP get me all fuzzy eyed and we can never have to much power :D

Check Out the pics of a stock muffler on blackcloud's site. I straight piped mine but left the cat. Saw a good drop in temps, BTM would be good if you don't want noise. A system dropped it even more!:sweet

As far as full blown systems....I got 4" turbo back.:thumbs That moved my power band up a bit and I have to drive a little higher in the RPMs. I have 3.73's too, a 4.10 truck wouldn't notice it as much. How do you use your truck? You may want 3.5 DP with a 4" back from there.

Now my question on the BTM, is you are still using what Down pipe ?

Wouldnt it just be easier to delete the muffler all together?

Still using the stock downpipe on my 05 6.0L Ex...

It's more a matter of dollars and cents and how far you want to go....

The muffler delete SEEMS to be the cheapest,
but if you are quoted $60 than the btm is better..
in MY case the straight pipes drone got OLD real quick....

If money is no object, by ALL means get a stainless turbo back!
ESPECIALLY if you have an 03... they had the worst crushed can downpipe...
I still have a pic of mine somewhere from when they pulled out mine on my 03.

The full mandrel bent turbo back will give you the most HP, and the best EGT's period.

I chose the Walker just as a quick acceptable alternative (and CHP vouched for it) and because I am not after every 1/8 hp of performance nor egt drop...

it's all your choice !

I picked up a 5" aluminized system-4" downpipe with a 6" tip for under $500 from RPM outlet.com. I bought some accuseal clamps for the joints seperately. I am very happy and my EGT's are 400-750 depending on how hard i'm pushing it.
