WOW. at this point anyone new needs a recap to filter out all the failed attempts (parts swapped), and exact info like fuel psi, oil psi, outside temp, "plugged in/or not", how much time till the baby is due.....

loving the how to on the voltage drop test.

Haha, fair enough!

Outside temp during the day- High is 40's/Low is 20's
Builds sufficent oil psi (more than 500)
Voltage around 12.5-13
Has fuel psi (sorry no reading)
Glow Plug resistance all around 1.5 ohms
GPR reads proper voltage (now)
Connections all cleaned, drop tested

Parts replaced
New GPR (old one was just a tiny bit off-better safe than sorry)
2 New Batteries (one had bad cell)
New Cam Position Sensor (why the f not)

Code popped for the idm failure-waiting for test module*

Baby due any minute now!

well, the lack of input on this thread leads me to believe either
1. the baby has arrived and there's more important things to do :sweet:clap:
2. the IDM was faulty and the replacement fixed it

but the resistance on the glow plugs I put in bold is a tad high..
I think I'd replace them..
BERU's are $22 each from O'Reilly's and it takes about three hours to change all 8..

My GPR tested fine both at Ford and a local garage. Been dealing with hard/no start for 4 winters now. Jump starting three times a week.

Tested and changed batteries. I hate throwing parts at a problem but I found an aftermarket replacement GPR for $15 and figured I'd give it a shot. Truck starts like new!

Update!!

Good call JLDickmon!

Baby has arrived- all ten fingers and toes of poopy screamy fun!

Was not the IDM. Used the test module, no change. Put IDM back in, reassembled fender.
Used a really fancy code reader from my buddy at international, and it said #1and #3 injector were bad.
Also gave inconsistent fuel pressure readings. Once it was fine, next it was waaaay low, third time it was fine. Sooo, replaced fuel pump, it resolved the no start issue.
Now, starts, and runs, but ****ty.

Upon my buddies suggestion, we tested the glow plugs, resistance read the same as before, just fine. Took glow plugs out and tested them out of truck, four were bad.

Lets review lessons learned.

1. Remember a real code reader can be an invaluable tool!
2. Fuel pump failing caused injectors to go bad and no start issues.
3. For totally accurate reading on glow plugs, best to pull them out.

Wish me luck, replacing them tomorrow. Here is some links to those reading this that will help you do the same thing.;tu

Again, thanks JLDickmon, DaveBen, and BigJoe, BigRgr, and IRaceMine, for sticking it out with me this whole time.
