Hi yaul, this is my first post here and am looking for some info. I am looking at a 2002 F-250 Lariat, CC, 4x4, 7.3l with 130k miles. The body is in excellent shape, Engine runs good. The owner is looking to get out from under the payment and want $17,800. Sounds like a pretty good deal.

What are some of the things I need to look for on, under or in truck. Are there any particular problems with this year model?

I now pull a 27ft camper with a F-150 Lariat, CC, 4x4, 5.4l engine 3.73 RE. It will handel it fine on the flatlands of South Ga. up to 60/65 mph but stopping is the main problem. I am looking to replace it with this truck.

Thanks in advance for any info you guys can provide.

130k is on the high end of average. Did the previous owner tow anything with it? Does it have a 5th-wheel or goose-neck hitch? If so, how much heavy towing did he do? How tight is the transmission? Check suspension joints...making sure they have been kept services. Also, run a CarFax report. There will be a record of accident repair, as well as maintenance if done at an establishment that reports.

This is a good start, but there is more. I will leave that to others.

I was told by present owner that previous owner to him didn't use for toeing heavy load as a camper etc, mainly for nursery business travel. I think most of miles are road miles. The present owner has used it to pull a 18ft trailer with lawn equip on it. I don't know the first owner but I know personally the present owner and have no reason to believe he would lie to me.

It only has the factory bumper hitch and no signs of GN or 5W hitch in bed.

I haven't driven it yet. I plan to look at it closer this weekend. Just looking for some pointers as I have never owned a truck larger than my F-150.

Also, run a CarFax report. There will be a record of accident repair, as well as maintenance if done at an establishment that reports.

That's a good idea. I had forgot about them.

Thanks for the info.
