I really want to lift my truck soon but i'm undecided on what lift to use. Dose anyone know the max. tire size i can put on a 4inch lift and a 6 inch lift on a dually? Dose anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to get to crazy because i do tow a little, the only reason i want to lift it is because I go to the dunes alot and i havent been stuck yet but i see how easy it would be to get stuck with these stock tires

I'd really re-think lifting your dd unless you have money to burn and not getting stuck at the dunes is that important. There is this girl that lives down the street that has a 4" lift on 35" tires and she gets 8mpg. It's a 2003 Crew Cab 8' bed, dually, automatic, with 4.10 gears.

Hope this helps.

You should be able to fit 35's (possibly even 36's) on you truck with a 4 inch lift without any clearance issues on or off-road. I had 37's on my 2002 with a 6" inch lift and had no clearance problems on or off-road. If your truck is a daily driver I would go with a 4 inch lift.

4 inches 35's 8mpg wow

4 inches with 35's seems like the way to go i can't believe she is getting 8 mpg with a lift like that, dose she drive with a cement foot or something? I'm hoping that my mods will help with that I'm pretty good about keeping my foot out of it most of the time i average about 17 mpg right now do you think I'll have the same experience she did

Think of it this way - you're tremedously increasing the facial area, wind resistance, rolling resistance, and even traction resistance because of the increased width. All these combined with the fact you'll have to push your truck harder to drive how it used to. SHe drives like a woman - nothing special. I expected 10-12 but she fills up at her dady's diesel place so it's not like she cares LOL!

Must be nice...

My truck running 38's and 4:56 gears averages 10-12mpg in town and 14-15mpg on the hwy. Those figures are on the imperial gallon. The fuel mileage did suck until I changed the gear ratio in my truck. The biggest mpg increase I noticed was in town rather than on the hwy.

Yeh but you only have 4 tires going down the road - not 6.

Lifted Dually

My 2000 has an 8" lift with 35's. :sweet You'll need spacers for the rear wheels - mine are 2". Also you'll need to recalibrate the speedometer with something like the Superlift Tru-speed which will give you your true milage and let the engine run correctly as it calibrates many of it's functions off the sensor for the ABS. Your friend probably has not done this and she is not getting optimum performance. I used a GPS calibrating mine and it is dead on now. The in cab monitor says 14.9 mpg with the 4.10 rear end and 35's running on the +100hp of the Bullydog 4 position chip. If a big lift is your dream Gitrdone!:thumbs There is a picture or two in my gallery.

Maintain, True enough however my tires are wide (15.5") When I put my 35's on for the winter I actually get worse mileage due to the increase in engine rpm.
