Finally got this done, but get this... I took the rig to the dealer (Planet Ford in Spring, TX) at 6:30 am to address a few issues -- Engine surge, poping in drive train, & get the security code. The service advisor told me that it would cost 1 hour labor at $104.50 to get the security code. She said it takes a good 45 minutes to query it out. I didn't want to believe that, but what the heck... I needed the code, so I said "do it".
Later that day she called me to tell me they changed the EGR valve to correct the surge and did not find anything causing or even heard a pop in the drivetrain/suspension. She said "There's nothing of concern in that area." (BS!!) I asked about the security code and the SA said "Oh... you wanted me to get that too? You'll have to bring it back tomorow because all our folks who can do that are already gone for the day." Now I'm agrevated and expect and ask for the code free of charge for which of course she would not budge.
When I went to pickup the truck around 6:00 pm, the SA was not there, so I dealt with someone else in the fleet services area. I took the opportunity to express my disapointment in the SA completely missing 1/3 of my service request. He said "I can help you with that..." and promptly took the truck back into the shop. He returned with the truck in less than 15 minutes and had the code in hand and free of charge. I was totally amazed, grateful, and at the same time, disgusted. He said he would take the issue up to his management because I was not happy with the overall experience.
I'm probably going to bring it back to him now since the engine surge is back in less than a week and the popping in the DT/suspension is getting worse!! !*&%#)*&%@!!!!!
You know... when you pay $30-$50k for a vehicle + $3k for an extended service plan, you should be able to expect good service without lies & laziness!!!!!
