After the three storm series, our truck was looking grim. So I went out and washed it today.
How in the world do you guys with lifted trucks wash your trucks??
I wonder what it would take to lower the truck about four inches?

1. Then it would fit in the garage.
2. You could wash it without a step ladder and extended wand.
3. There would still be ample clearance under the truck.
4. You could get into the truck without needing a ladder.
5. Most 5th wheels would fit without needing to reverse the axles.

I don't know if it was old age, or the last surgery, but washing the truck today about did me in. I am tired and sore.
I remember when I was 18, and washing my car was fun.

Max.. For many, many years, I've used a Step-Stool. I've worn out 3. Short or Tall, Big or Small, these trucks are BIG, and it takes a Real Reach to get to things...4WD or 2WD, makes no Diff.

The stool I have now has a nice platform that's about 24" off the ground with 1 step to get to it. VERY stable too. I have it's Twin that I carry in the FW. Got it at Wal-Mart.

I also have a... Wash Mit on a Stick. The stick is about 18" long.. just long enough that you don't have to LEAN Way Over to get to the middles. Again.. Wal-Mart.

Gorilla aluminum work platform

My truck is white. After these storms it was cleaner than ever...except for the twigs and oak leaves.
Rain water leaves no water spots!

This model is rated to 300 lbs.

I use all avaliable means. To wash the roof I stand in the bed and open the front doors. Got to be really careful not to get water inside. To wash the front windshield I stand on the front tires. But what you need Max is one of these


Makes a really nice platform to stand on for the hood. I know what you are talking about. My back in not what it was before I joined the military so it is really hard to be bent over for long periods.

I keep a step stool exactly like this in the bed of my truck all the time. Great for getting in and out of the bed and washing the top of the truck with a brush too. Don't leave home without it.

With the Extang RT roll up tonneau and a tailgate lock it's out of sight, out of mind, (as well as hiding my fifth wheel, goose neck, weight distributing hitch and toolboxes too), from most thieves.

I know what you are saying. After serving my last 5 years as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, several jumps and about 2 years of combat in full gear daily, I was actually 2" shorter when retired than when I went in. No kidding.

I hear you on that. Not much shorter but will be walking and one of my 5 disks will just slip and put me on the ground. Takes a few minutes of controled breathing and I can get back up.

I will take a trip to Walmart tomorrow. At one time I was 5' 9", but now I would be lucky to make 5' 8". A wash mit on a stick would be a real help. I also like the Gorilla work platform. Right now I am using a 24" ladder, and standing on the top step. The Gorilla platform would be much safer to use. Kind of like a mini scaffold. We have two step tools like tonkadoctor that we keep in the 5th wheel. We use them to open and close the vent in the living room, that is at least 8 ft. tall. I could make a long handled vent closer, and just use the step tools for outside the 5th wheel. They also are used as folding chairs, and work well.

Max, be safe when washing your truck. You don't want to break any bones out there, especially with what you've been through. Might be easier to spend a few bucks and let the local car wash take care of it.
