I know Bilsteen's will probably be top choise for most on here, but I really like the adjustability of the Rancho RS9000XL shocks and Sam's Offroad has them on sale (buy 3 get one FREE) till the end of April.

Plus they have the steering stabilizer's for the Super Duties as well.

What say ye?

i thought you already had aftermarket shocks on your truck...
are you saying you STILL have the stock shocks on !

i guess id have to ask if you NEED a shock w/ adjustment on it ?

even towing ive not found a need for any adjustment.

compare the price that sams is offering the shocks for against
eshocks.com & shockwarehouse.com

id recommend the bilsteins...theres a reason so many have
bought 'em !

is your steering stabilizer worn out ? they dont typically see the
work out that a conventional shock sees...

I am on a set of Edelbrock shocks right now. They are getting kinda spongy, but its so hard to tell if they are worn out or not.

If I go over a speed bump, even at a low speed like 5mph, when I go off the speed bump and back dow onto the pavement, it has a "ee" sound and it seems to recoil to much.

I will do some comparing bush and as far as the steering stabilizer, my steering seems alittle sloppy lately, will the SS help that any?

Bama go with the bilstiens bush is right about them. As far as the steering stabalizer I dont like the stock ones but I would go over the front end first. Check your front end first all the normal stuff tie rods, ball jounts, spring eye bushings etc. I have had the rough country duel stablizers on my old 02 and on my 06 and for the price you cant beat them.

Mainly the steering stabilizer is for bumpsteer. Which is caused when driving offroad and you hit a rock. Can be real dangerous cause it will cause the wheel to be ripped from yer hand

the Edelbrock shocks have a Lifetime Warranty...if theyre bad
or worn out theyll be repaired or replaced....

sounds like you got other problems...have the ball joints ever
been replaced ? check the sway bar bushings ?

Ball joints were replaced close to 20,000 miles ago, which was around 2 years ago. The sway bar bushings has crossed my mind too.

I had forgotten about the lifetime warrenty bush, thanks for reminding me.

Is their some kinda "test" or something I can do on my own to see if the sway bar bushings are bad? What are the signs?

The new XL's are sweet, much larger and a way better exterior finish than the 9000X which I have at the current.

The deal at Sams is a tuff one to beat:sweet

Steering stabilizer wise all you need is a single Procomp ES2000 from 4 wheel parts, they're about $32 and come with a lifetime warranty for they do wear out and when they do just bring the old one in and they issue a new replacement unit.(Just warrantied my ES2000 about 3 weeks ago)what a difference!:sweet

One thing most owners don't realize about Excursions is that all X's are over 8,000 lbs not hooked to a trailer which in a sense has more wear and tear than a typical shortbox crewcab pickup not in tow so the upgrades in shocks, stabilizers, springs makes a big difference for us Excursion owners.

on our trucks its pretty much a VISUAL inspection..if youve
got the factory rubber bushings id be surprised if they werent
ripped outta the drop link by now...w/ as many miles as youve got.

a sign that the bushing are gone...increased lean/push or general
"wallowing" in a turn....itll almost feel like it has a flat or low tire.

the "wallowing" or softness in a turn might be more pronunced in
one direction than the other (right vs left or left vs right)....usually
cause only ONE side bushing is blow.

all of the blow bushings ive seen were on the passenger side, lower
drop link bushing...i look at all the superduty's when they go buy...
and its amazing to me how many have blown the factory sway
bar bushings.

Bama! I love the "ee". Its perfect. As soon as your eyes read it, you can hear the noise in the back of your head.
