What is there to think about? They want help and you need money, sounds like a match to me.

Yep, seems like a "no-brainer" to me. Go to work there and keep looking for something else. If you don't have anything holding you there, Alaska might be a great place to go, plus you could get away from everyone and start a new life.

wayne -

i understand what your saying...offering advice wise...but some
problems should be faced head on...im not saying Rich's problems should
be...im just offering that moving away MIGHT not be all its cracked
up to be....and i do have some personal experiances of my own
that taught me this.

some things are just TOUGH <and expensive> lessons that i had to
learn...distance didnt solve it for me...although i might for some.

just something to think about.

Crumm... what kinda work and what kind of pay... I might relocate

Lots of construction work during the summer from pounding nails to moving dirt. Local Union halls are looking for workers everyday. During the winter months there is work on the North Slope as long as you don't mind working at -40. The news paper classifieds here in Fairbanks and also in Anchorage are full of help wanted adds. Unemployment is not a problem up here for people that want to work. There is some unemployment but in my opinion that is people that don't want to work. Keep in mind that the cost of living is high up here and the climate leaves something to be desired. We do have a bit higher than average pay that helps make up for the cost of living. I am a truck driver and am currently making 3x the amount I could in the lower 48 states. I think about moving every winter but then spring arrives and I am good for another six months. Several months of darkness gets to a guy but the 24 hour sunlight almost makes up for it.

Fairbanks help wanted.

Anchorage help wanted.

One of the best places for employment right now is in Las Vegas Nevada. It is growing so fast, there are jobs in every field. I would not want to live there in the summer, but they do need people to fill the jobs. I do not know about the pay, but when there are more jobs available than people to fill them, normally the pay increases.
