dealers have NO integrity <much less morals>...i
dont know how those guys sleep at night !
I'll tell you how they sleep at nite.... On a big pile of money! Money obtained by fleasing the sheep that dont fight back!

These blanket statements have "upset" more than a handful of members here.

Quite a few of us are mechanics for a living.

You guys keep calling us thieves and crooks; we work in "stealerships," blah blah blah..

The moderators pulled my response post, but let these stand. That's what I'm upset about the most. And now that I've questioned it, I'm probably going to get banned. On every other internet message board I reply to, that is something that is not tolerated; Questioning of the moderators.

But I'm tired of this and I'm not going to stand for it any longer.

What do you guys do for a living? Is turning a profit some sort of an obscene concept in your business? Why is it in ours?

Have you guys any clue whatsoever the incredible amount of overhead it takes to run a shop?

Rent? Payroll? Benefits? Insurance? Health insurance? Property insurance? Licenses? Furniture & fixtures needed to make a shop operate?
Anyone priced out the cost of a new alignment rack and lift lately? got a spare $35,000 rattling around in your pocket?

Hey, you know what?
A lot of you guys provide to us the stuff that we need to operate our business! How come YOUR prices are so high compared to what they were just a few years ago?

At the very minumum, this is a matter of "glass houses"

But I'm tired of the blanket insults.

If you've had an issue with your dealer, ask us. We know how to handle it best.

If you have a question about the best way to do a particular job, ask us FIRST, rather than bring it to us all FUBAR'd up and get cranked outta shape about how much it costs to straighten it out.

John,

Do either of those statments say that JLDickmon is a thief, a crook or a bad person to do business with?

You want me to go back and find out how many different disciplines YOU have bashed on these boards? I know one in particular is a field that I work in.

:sorry man, you need to get over yourself. Banned? I hardly think so.

I really think everyone should leave the bashing on other peoples profession or their affiliations to themselves. On another site the techs stopped answering questions from people that bash their jobs. Blanket statements will always tend to upset the majority of the people they are said about, so IMO we don't need them. ;tu

to be SPECIFIC i said DEALERS, NOT MECHANICS....I venture
to guess that many of you are frustrated w/ your own dealerships !

and i have NEVER said anything negative about JLD or any other
mechanic thats on this board.

regardless of what ones profession is or what overhead there
is in supporting a given career...DISHONESTY (and double talk)
should NEVER be tolorated.

How do you tell the difference between who's trying to cheat you and who isn't when you use a blanket statement about the people who work at a dealership?

For me (and I think Many Others) It's not the hard working Mech, in the shop.. up to his or her arm pits in grease, dirt, oil and tranny fluid.......JLD.... It's the people in the front office. The Management, Corporate or Franchise.. and their [SOMETIMES] lack of Business Ethics, coupled with their Attitude toward the customer that makes a customer call them a derogatory name or two. It's NOT the Mech who Wrenches on things.

I agree with you about Blanket Statements though. But, if we got TO Politically Correct, Opinion and Profession sensitive on here.. We wouldn't have much to Post about. ;):)

Maxtor sez it all, I think.

Lighten up guys.... Life is to short to get upset over what someone else thinks or says.

If we stop to realize that happiness comes from within, and how we choose to react to what others do or say determines our state of mind.

Choose today to NOT let others impact your day negatively, but choose to only allow others to impact your day in a positive manner.

We are all in control of how we react.

John are you sure you don't have "Mechanic" and "Dealer" confused? The Dealer is the Corporate part of the equation that does over-charge us and under-pay you.

You hit the notify moderator button on your post and stated "If it gets me banned from here, so be it". That right there was a admission that your post should not have been posted. You did not hit the notify moderator button on any of the other posts, if you had they would have been reviewed and/or removed.

Now that I've questioned it, I'm probably going to get banned. On every other Internet message board I reply to, that is something that is not tolerated; Questioning of the moderators.
Question away. We are only human too. You know that on any other message board your previous history would have got you banned but we are very easy going here.

JL the problem w/ the dealerships is NOT the
mechanics...if anything its their lack of investment
IN their Mechanics.

all too many dealers hold the service writers in
higher regard than the actual mechanics !

John, I'm lucky enough to have bought my truck from an honest dealer. He sells Super Duty diesels by the car carrier load. But in the service department, only ONE qualified diesel tech. He's a great guy, but overworked and probably underpaid. If I want something as simple as an oil change, I have to book it two weeks out. So I get my oil changes done at an independent shop who takes care of my other vehicles.

Why is there a backlash against dealerships? Because the boys in the front office in too many dealerships have to answer to owners who have multiple locations. Their policies of additional dealer markups, padding sales contracts with bull**** fees, and conveniently forgetting about service after the sale have soured good relations.

Stealerships? Yes, John. Stealerships. I've seen too many multiple location dealer conglomerates screw their customers three ways from Sunday. Their reputation is rightly deserved. But as for the poor working stiffs in the service bays who have to toe the line or pack up their tools and go, I don't think anyone on this forum holds the techs responsible.

The responsible parties are those who see a buyer as a sheep to be led to the slaughter, to be picked clean of every dollar in their wallet, and to be taken advantage of in every way, legal or otherwise, possible.
