idle problem

i have a 96 f250 7.3 when i start the truck it has a bad idle surge about 500rpm but you throttle it up for about 10 second and then it idles fine i did have a bd chip and the truck got to acting funny so i took it out then a few days later it started acting this way so i put the chip back in a now it revs up when you first start it but it still act funny with the chip in any help thanks greg

last oil change?type of oil used?mileage?last fuel filter change?ever clean the fuel pressure regulator screen?

last oil change few thousand miles ago fuel filter about 1500 miles and cleaned screen at same time

my truck will idle like that when its time for an oil change.you dont have a 10K(or variant)mod on it do you?

no it has between 3000 to 4000 on this oil change when it idles crazy it will black smoke but when putting the chip back in it will clean the camming idle up

first id change the oil and see what happens.

but you can also unplug the ICP sensor(its on the front of the drivers side head where the main harness runs)check the nut/solenoid on the IPR to see if its loose.

Does sound like an ICP problem. Do what RIch says. Maybe need to clean the guts of the IPR and change o-rings if it's still doing it.

i changed oil did not change anything i unplug what i would call a pressure sensor front of driver side head it change got to be a fast rpm jump
