New to the diesel world. Read diesel magazines for years. (subscribe to one too!) I trAded in our 7 seat 05 Toyota sienna for an 06 E350 12 seater while on a road trip from so calif to Detroit and back.
Mpg was 17 to 18 @ 70 mph with a rooftop cargo carrier and real (Michigan rated) mud/snow tires (minivan was 20 mpg) with increased space for all 7 of us.
Now for the details.
No issues except for... Headed west bound I-40 headed uphill @ the kelso uphill on cruise control @ 70 mph, the transmission kicked down 2 gears and tried to maintain 70 mph NOT! Safety kicks in and the wrench Icon lights up. My 16 year old son who is driving outfitted to the top of the grade where I take over the driving chores. Shutting down the motor and restating allows the wrench icon to go away and we continue on our way home.
17 miles from home we stop for dinner @ my wife's favorite place. Upon finishing, I go back out to start the vehicle and....whaaaa?? It cranks but will not start. Uh oohhh! Since I was in the town I work in, I was able to make contact with one of the crews who let me borrow a company truck to get my family (7 of U's) home late at night along with the tow truck drivers extra seats.
Right now, the 6.0 sits @ the local dealer in various stages of disassembly and the preliminary report is 1. No oil pressure. 2. Retainer clip has been found in the oil pan and more research will be happening to make sure ther aren't any other parts floating around. I'm glad I bought the extended ford ESP warranty straight from the dealer when we did the paperwork.
Maybe I'll get a brand new crate motor?? Pretty please!??
