what i want to do is trick the PCM into thinking i have 2 regular bulbs in my rear tailights so i can run all LEDs on my 94 towtruck.i have leds in all my bed lights and the brake lights under the deck, but my lightbar has 2 regular bulbs.i want to put leds in my light bar as well and still have my tranny shift correctly.can i put a resistor in between the light wires and ground so the PCM thinks it has 2 regular bulbs?dont want to just wire up 2 bulbs and paint em black under the truck somewhere  .

Why not just get LED lights with the proper resistance circuits built into them?

Yes, they are available on the market.

And why would your transmissions' shifting pattern be affected by tail lights? This is a new one on me.

the E4OD uses the resistance in the brake light circuit so it knows when the brakes are on or off so it can unlock the converter, turn off the cruise control or drop it out of overdrive when comeing to a stop.kind of a stupid idea.

That does sound like an idiotic idea.

But look around the net, I do recall seeing LED bulbs with built in circuitry that mimmics the resistance of incancescent bulbs.

whered you ever read that the tranny is connected <in operation>
to the light bulbs ?

you sayin' when you blow a bulb the truck doesnt shift right or
lock up the converter ? ill call BS ! the cruise control is NOT connected
to the operation of the transmission EITHER !

You oughta try to hook a trailer onto an OBS E4OD and put it in OD down the highway with the 4 way flashers on....... that is the definition of fun.

I think this must be on the old OBS because my 97. I have LED lights like the one from the website referenced above and it works just fine.
