I would like remove only a quart of oil in my truck. I have a quart of Lucas Pure Synthetic Oil Stabilizer that I would like to add. I recently changed the oil in the truck so it will be a while before the next oil change and I don't want to wait until then. I don't put many miles on my truck. I only put about 6,000-7,000 miles on it in the last year (2,000 miles of it was when my dad borrowed it to drive to Florida and back).

Is there any line that I can open to drain some oil? I definitely don't want to try to pull the oil pan drain plug for a second or two then try to reinstall before I lose all the oil. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

That is a hard question. I don't really know how to recommend how to do this with the STOCK PLUG. Next time you change your oil you might add a FUMOTO Valve. This will allow you to remove any quantity of oil you want to remove. Here is the skinny on the valve: FUMOTO ENGINEERING

pulling the plug isn't that hard just potentially messy
you never pull it all the way out use the plug to block the flow then thread it back in

I've had to do it...and it aint easy. In fact, its messy.

Try loosening the bolt enough for oil to start leaking out. You could try and catch about a quart by letting it drip...slow and tedious but it might work.

Other option would maybe be to remove the filter? I dont know if oil would come pouring out of the return ports or not.

Removing the filter won't help much on the 6.0 engine. The oil drains back into the pan when the filter cover is removed. So all you would gain is an oily filter.

go to a marine supply store or even walmart and get a oil change pump, you stick the tube down the dipstick tube and pump out however much you want.

Get the Fumoto valve.. then, if yer Quick ? Remove the OE plug while pushing Up on it (minimal leakage) while turning.. Then, when it's ready to come out.... QUICKLY swap the OE plug.. for the Fumoto. Thread it tight. Drain the 1 quart yer after.

Small to Minimal Mess....... :sly;)

Oil drooling off yer elbow being a 10.. running passed yer wrist being a 5.. it'll be a possible 6, maybe a 7. If yer Quick. ;)
