Fumoto Valve! Best thing I have done maintenance wise. Of course doenst help you much right now since you already changed the oil BUT I would go ahead and get a fumoto valve comin by the time its ready for a oil change.

tempo oil boys are great if you have them...

but in this case, with a 7.3 motor, there is a oil bypass port on the block that you *MIGHT* be able to slurp a little oil from. the supplyt port is on the the filter housing.

you might be able to bleed a little off from there with the engine at idle. i would use a short piece if hose into a can.

Here's a different idea. Take it out, warm it up, and drive it like hell for a 100 miles or so. As in extended rpm in the 2.5k range or so. Return home, and add your new quart of go-juice from Lucas.

The beast holds 15 quarts but there is about a 3quart margin on that dipstick last I checked -- surely you can blow off a quart or so?

And if seemed like you added more than you blew off? Then just do it again in a couple of weeks. Cost is one more quart of go-juice and another 10 gallons of diesel.... Or... wait until the next oil change interval (which incidentally, could be tomorrow if you catch the oil into a clean can) and then indeed put that Fumoto valve on...

Update: I removed the oil pan drain plug and kept it partly covering the hole. This allowed me to control the amount of oil coming out. I filled a measuring cup up to one quart then put the plug back in. This was actually easier than I thought it would be. I did the same thing on my wife's Honda Accord a few minutes later with the same success.
