I want to hook up a remote switch to the "charge protect" button on my AIC. My plan is to hook a relay up to the charge protect button and activate the relay with the door lock circuit. With it set up like this I can hit my remote start and then after the truck starts hit the door lock button on the remote start and the rpm will ramp up. This will come in very handy when the batteries in my camper go dead during the night. Gets real cold when the furnace doesn't have any power to run the fan. Would be nice to be able to start the truck and set the charge protect without getting out of bed. I have a manual transmission so the idle will not kick up on its own, you have to hit the high idle or charge protect to make it ramp up. The charge protect is just what I need for camper battery charging.

Question:

Is it possible to get inside the AIC and hook up to the backside of the charge protect switch or is it a circuit board nightmare in there? I remember someone changing the led's in one so there must be a way to get in it but what about tapping into the switch?

I don't know how to do it, but would think it should be possible. My AIC has "extra" wires for remote switch(es) hook up. Also tells you in the book for it what type of switches are required.

Do not know what if any difference there is between OBS and Superdutys for the AIC. Might be able to pick one up on E-bay or somewhere, if its not easily firgured out.

Crumm, do you have the AIC programmed for automatic? When it is programmed for automatic, set the parking brake and it will increase the idle. Keith

The AIC will not increase the idle on a manual transmission equipped truck without hitting the button.

How about a really long stick so that you can mash the buttons without getting too much out of bed...?:roflmao :roflmao :roflmao :roflmao

You might laugh but that was my original plan. I even looked to see if it could be done and with the center console down I can get a direct line of site from the camper front window through the truck back window. I was thinking a telescoping stick of some sort but then I thought of the wiring idea. If the wiring idea does not work out I will be going back to the stick idea. You know of a good source for a 5' stick that telescoped down to about 1.5'?

What about those fishing poles that expand?

But I would still try for the switch. Can never have too many switches.

I still have not tore the box apart and since I am no electronics wizz I am still looking for instruction. Anyone know how to tap in to this circuit board?
