As for the container to drain the oil into, with the Fumoto you can use any empty container. Typically I use the empty 1 gallon oil containers the oil came in. :thumbs

I think I will start doing this. I have the Fumoto, so this seems like the best solution.

I had seen a picture of the oilguard with a pan return plug - that is what I was thinking of on the compatability issue. You cant see much from the pictures on the oil guard.

thats a generic picture at oil guard.
on the 7.3 and 6.0 the reurn is routed
7.3 into the block at the oil filter head assembly on the oil cooler
6.0 back into the oil cap

That would be great if it had a lid for transporting.
You're not going to get me to carry a full 15 quart draintainer into Autozone,I fill up the 1 gallon bottles then transport:sweet

Peter,

I have 5 gal buckets, you want one?

Powerboatr,

We are on the honor system with a log at the recycling centers. Most people that see me sign the log don't know about it.

My driveway is on a slant. When I pull the truck up on the ramps it levels it out and makes for plenty of room for a 5 gal bucket.

I usually wait until I get 2 or 3 buckets full before I go up to Jiffy Lube to dump it. They have a big outside container, there is nothing to sign and they do not ask any questions.

That's what I've been doing. I will start draining straight into empties from now on.

Or transfer from the draintainer into a 5 gallon pickle bucket or one of the 5 gallon liquid dishwashing detergent buckets with a spout for easy carry in.
