not sure about texas, but in alabama and florida and would speculate its the same in all 50 states,
but any retailer that "sells " the oil, will take back used oil, the caveat is, places like auto zone keep a log of your name and quantitiy returned, 16 quarts seems to be the high limit per month, before they complian, but they still take it, most are friendly, but some try to make it a problem so you will leave.
give me a few hours and i wil find in the EPA, the CFR that provides guidance
requiring them to take it, its buried in a long chapter,

When we resided in Sacramento County we were permitted to put up to four or six 1 gallon jugs at the curb for the bi weekly recycling pickup(extremely convenient!) but COR doesn't provide that here so I get to run it to Autozone which isn't too bad;)

Peter call the city and ask if they have such a program.

yep they do. I plan to add the oilguard system next year so maybe I will add the fumoto (are they compatible?) too and start doing it myself again. I need a larger container though. One reason I quit doing it myself was that one change filled to capacity my collection pan. I suppose with the oilguard I wont be doing it very often anyway - currently run about 5 to 6000 miles a year.

AutoZone for me. On a side note, I have a 14-15qt oil change container, but it is too small for my needs. What do you guys use that holds all 16?

15 quart black draintainer:sweet
I think the most I been able to get in the engine is 15-15.5 quarts with filter.

bg kitty litter jug and i buy rotella in the 2 1/2 galln jugs.
I drain teh crankcase into a five gal paint can that i cut off the top 2" fits perfect under the engine, no ramps required, then pour it back in the empties

tx atty the oil guard system will not effect your drain plug valve.
just adds a quart or two depending on the length of the lines you use and their size

Fumoto is just a replacement drain plug. It is compatible with any and everything on your truck.

As for the container to drain the oil into, with the Fumoto you can use any empty container. Typically I use the empty 1 gallon oil containers the oil came in. You can also use 1 quart bottles. Or 3 ounce baby food jars if you've got enough. Since you can start and stop the oil stream at will, the container is no longer a big problem. Do whatever's convenient.:thumbs

I had seen a picture of the oilguard with a pan return plug - that is what I was thinking of on the compatability issue. You cant see much from the pictures on the oil guard.

That's what I have and it is not quite big enough. The half a quart ends up getting soaked up by rags.
