high pressure oil leak

need some help, i have a 03 6.0, that i have determined to have a high pressure oil leak, has anyone encountered this problem? if so then please provide some guidance........navy diesel tech

What are you symptoms? HPOP leak is more common on the 05+ trucks rather than the early ones. It'll probably be fairly complex to diagnose where the leak is. You'd have to find a way to supply about 3000 psi of pressure in the HPO system. Do you have any way to read the signal from the ICP sensor? (AutoEnginuity) If so then what pressure are you reading?

ive spoken to several ase ford master tech and all of them have said the same thing, that the branch tube or the quick disconnect have a crack in them, and this is a very common problem according to ford in the early 6.0s

I've personally disassembled the high pressure tubes and agree that they could easily leak, either at the upper quick disconnect, or at the lower end, as the up tube gets tightened into the elbow from above, seems like it puts alot of stress on the lower joint. I've had the tube twist up like spaghetti when I was disassembling, the thing was so torqued on. The up tubes are supposed to be replaced whenever they are removed.

what year truck do you have ?

btw you havent said why you think YOURE is leaking...you having
some problems ? symptoms ?

the symptons are as follows, the truck starts fine then when the engine is up to operating tempature it dies after 10-15 min run time, then the truck will not start untill the engine is completely cold then it starts and the cycle starts all over again

doesnt sound HPOP related...most of these wont EVER start or take
LOTS of cranking <to build pressure> before theyll start.

yours sounds more ICP related.
got any engine codes ?

the 03's ICP were mounted at the back of the motor...could be a short
or heat breaking it down.


the 03 & 04 are not "prone" to HPOP problems...the 05-07's have a
HPOP connection issue (theres a TSB on it) but again the 03/04 does NOT
have the same set up....

Identifying and diagnosing high pressure oil leaks - engine stalling and no start concerns.

6.0L FICM harness inspection & repair or replacement - ICP connector replacement.

FDDTS - 6.0L Injector Harness

FDDTS - HPOP Connector Bracket TSB

What is the IPR like on the 6.0 HPOP system? Similar to the 7.3 or a different cat altogether?

dont know the 7.3L but heres the 6.0 IPR

I havent heard or read of ANY of these failing...not to say
that they cant, or havent....6.0L IPR

sure is gonna be a PAIN to get to on the 03's...if i were goin' after the IPR
id probably install a new ICP at the same time.
