I'm in need of some suggestions where to start lookin for the problem. I went to go to work tonight and the thing wouldn't turn over. It was fine in the morning started no problem now nothing. Glow plugs cycle turn key nothing not a click. Lights are bright and batteries are fairley new less than a year. Any Ideas? It's a 02 7.3l. Thanks Ed

Check that your battery connections are clean.

I know from experience that corroded battery connections will cause a really wierd assortment of problems including not cranking.

Ok I don't know what happened but I tried it today and it fired right up. I looked for the solenoid relay and could not find it on the passenger side fender well do these trucks even have one? Anyway I cleaned up the battery terminals for good measure and hope it doesn't happen again.

Intermittant problems,

that was one of the wierd assortmant of things I was referring to.

Don't forget to check the negative battery cable where it attaches to the frame & engine block. Rust or oil on that connection can have the same effect.

Hope you got it fixed.

used to be that you could replace the starter mounted
solenoid separately (unbolt it & replace it)...last time i
went to do it (96 f150) the cost between it and the
lifetime starter from autozone made it cost prohibitive...

i figured i was under there...id just replace the entire starter.

autozone doesnt list the solenoid separately...

169 (after core charge) for the LIFETIME WARRANTY starter & solenoid
