used to be that you could replace the starter mounted
solenoid separately (unbolt it & replace it)...last time i
went to do it (96 f150) the cost between it and the
lifetime starter from autozone made it cost prohibitive...

i figured i was under there...id just replace the entire starter.

autozone doesnt list the solenoid separately...

169 (after core charge) for the LIFETIME WARRANTY starter & solenoid

There now you have the part number just incase. :D

When I get the starter cores back I test them and it's 95% of the time it's the solenoid thats bad. The rest of the starter is fine.
