I installed the rear sway bar about a month ago. It comes with all new mounting hardware and new endlinks. And let me say, WOW! What a difference! About 90% of the floating is gone.
So then I said, what the hell. I ordered the front sway bar. With the rear one replaced it felt like the front had push going in and out of turns. I got it in this week and installed it. All I ca say is WWWWOOOOWWWW!!!!
My excursion handles like a Mustang now. And that is without much exaggeration. I can now pull my car trailer loaded straight as an arrow down the highway now. This is no doubt the best $300 that can be spent on an Excursion.
JFYI, The front sway bar kit come with all new mounting hardware but without endlinks. The stock ones are used.

What manufacturer did you go with...and source?

Both bars are Hellwig sway bars. I bought mine through Summitracing.com. Mainly because they were in stock and shipped same day. JC Whitney has them cheaper but have to be drop shipped from the factory (Hellwig). I didn't want to wait for that. Would have saved about $50 total if I would have used JCW. That's $50 total for both bars not each.
Hope this helps!

did you do a comparision of the OEM front swaybar and the Hellwig? I'd love to see a picture. (is it noticeable thicker or ??) I'd be willing to pay for a beer in exchange for a side by side picture! :)

The rear bar was some of the best money I've spent on the truck.

Have a good one,
Dave

To the naked eye, there wasn't much difference side by side. I put the new axle mount bushing on the OEM bar and there was a little play. The new bar is slightly bigger. But the new bar eliminates all of the front end push that the truck had. Front and rear sways are a must on the Excursion IMHO.

How was the install? Any modifications needed? Advice?

Pretty much, unbolt the OEM bars and bolt the new ones on. You can do both in an hour or so. They both come with very detailed install instructions with great pictures.

I can't wait, I got my rear sway bar this Christmas and I am going to put it on this weekend! I hate the swaying of the truck when towing. It looks like I am drunk when I tow my drag car to and from the track. I also have AirLift air bags for my truck. I hope these help as well.:thumbs
