If you have head gasket failure, what good is it going to do replace the head bolts with head studs and not change the gaskets?

Do it the right way and get the head gasket kit along with the head studs.

The gaskets have not failed. Just thought about replacing bolts with studs.
Thought there may be a way to do this without removing heads.

It can be done, one at a time, without removing the heads, but I wouldn't recommend it. Oh yeah, if you decide to do it without removing the heads, you will HAVE to pull the cab, or pull the whole motor out, there's no way to get the back bolts out or studs in with the cab on, and without removing the heads.

I have seen pictorial evidence of it being done with the motor still in, and that was removing the heads too.

Everything that is attached at the firewall has to be removed.

A whole lot of trouble in my opinion tho.

I agree, and have seen pictures as well that you CAN do studs with the cab on and engine in the truck, if you pull the heads, but I don't see that it would be possible to do it without pulling the heads completely off like he was asking, and just doing them one at a time.
